'Mountaineers for Natalie' Rally Ahead of WVU Game

Press Release

Date: Aug. 30, 2014
Location: Charleston, WV

West Virginia University students, alumni and sports fans launched "Mountaineers for Natalie" in support of West Virginia Secretary of State Natalie Tennant's campaign for U.S. Senate today in Morgantown. Following the rally Tennant marched with supporters to a local sports bar to watch WVU play Alabama and cheer on the Mountaineers in their first game of the season.

Tennant worked her way through college at WVU on a minimum wage job at a local Morgantown florist shop. Tennant also served as the Mountaineer Mascot -- the first women in history to do so. Tennant's Mountaineer muzzleloader has become a staple of her campaign. Tennant displays the gun above her desk in the Secretary of State's office when she's not firing it off in parades.

"I am proud to be a West Virginian, proud to be a Mountaineer, and proud to take your voice to the U.S. Senate," Tennant told the crowd. "It's time Washington started answering to the working people of this country."

"LET'S GO MOUNTAINEERS!'
